The Mongoose Exile dual-suspension mountain bike is designed for smooth, efficient riding, helping you hit the trail with confidence. The Exile is equipped with an alloy suspension triangle frame and a dual-suspension system, which work together to absorb bumps and even out your ride. The bike's hand-operated alloy linear V-brakes and 21-speed SRAM drivetrain, meanwhile, keep you in constant control both on and off the trail. For the relative low price, I got what I paid for. The bike was heavy at 43 lbs. The dual suspension was a very nice feature during downhill terrains and ramps. The mid section suspension also attempts to be adjustable to accommodate road and rough terrains. I got into a new sport with this bike and was able to learn very fast how equipment can cost more than a motorized version.I took a spill a couple of months back that set my wallet back a few bucks. The rear rim had to be replaced along with two tire tubes, the rear derailleur, cable housing and cable, and a couple months of back recovery (totaling $90). I also purchased a pair of universal debris fenders for muddy downhill rides and rainy cross-country field trips. There are a few upgrades that I would recommend for this product. Its very sharp looking. that about as far as i can go at this point.The back wheel/ derailer is messed up. the front and back breaks for this bike are total garbage. After the wheels are installed regardless out how well you play with the brake cable the tires are rubbing hard to the point the wheels dont even move. I currently have the bike at a repair shop as i couldnt get it working my self. Nevermind i use to do this as a hobby 8 years ago. So i'm having new breaks and a new derailer put on. Before you get this bike, make sure you know you're going to use it often, or the brake lines will get sticky. This bike was intended to be in the rider heigth range of around 5'10" or else you would need to get a longer seat bar. I highly recommend getting Kenda Cross Plus tires for this bike for all purpose traction. |
